Bomoseen PRO - SERIES

Bomoseen Lake, VT. 03/07/2010 Sunday Event

The full field limit for the Pro-Series will be 150 entrants. Teams OR individuals.

The entry fee for the Pro-Series will be $400.00, payout will be $20,000 based on a full field.

Regulations, lodging and launch/weigh-in will be the same as the Bomoseen Qualifying Event, held the Saturday before. Registration and rules meeting will be in conjunction with the Qualifier rules&registration meeting on Friday evening.

There are alot of ice fishing sites out there, and many of them have message boards/forums, where we all share information.

Some are good, some are bad. Some are to restrictive in what you can post, and there are some I wouldn't let a child near. Some are popular in other parts of the Country, some only provide info locally.

Our board here is mostly for us to share information about the tournaments. We do not provide a section for reports, conditions or other threads you would expect from a message board. That is because there are other, better places to do that.

One of the ones I recently became reacquainted with is IceFishin247 http://www.icefishin247.com It's not a huge site with a zillion members, but I think that will grow as more people find it, check it out for yourself.

NAIFC Champioship

The NAIFC Championship is just around the corner, and as far as I can tell, we have about a half dozen members who are going to be making the trip out west. Getting an invite to the NAIFC Championship is a huge accomplishment, especially when a team reaches that goal for multiple years. Not only does it require finely honed fishing skills, it also requires a huge amount of time and determination. My hat goes off to all those who made the cut.

And I would like to wish all of our members who qualified, the very best luck (and skill)

However, ever since meeting Mike K and Bob G at a Trap Attack on Silver Lake many years ago, they have been the team I have rooted for.

So, Mike and Bob, this is the post that I used to make on that other web site every year (that always got deleted by a mod.) where I say something like; Good luck, be safe, have fun, make PA proud.

We now have a flyer/poster for anyone who would like to help out by distributing them. If you do not have a printer, shoot me a PM or email with your address and I'll mail you some.

If you are posting these flayers at a bait shop, make sure to mention that they can list their store info at no charge on our web site.

These flyers may be updated through the season, but until then, post away.

Morning Launch Sequence

The morning launch sequence will be based on an entrants registration /entry number, for the first twenty entrants. After the first twenty entrants have passed through the equipment check, the other entrants will pass through in the order they are in line.

The first team to enter a tournament will receive team #1and will be the first entrant to head onto the ice, the tenth entrant to enter a tournament will receive team#10 and will be the tenth team to head onto the ice, and so on.

Equipment inspection / check in will begin at 6am the morning of the tournament. After passing check in, the anglers will be staged in an area until we begin letting anglers head out on the ice. At this point, team #1will head out, followed by team#2 and so on, in five second intervals.

The official "start fishing time" will vary for each tournament and will depend on the number of entrants and how long equipment check takes. This "start fishing time" will be announced shortly before team#1 heads out on the ice. Generally, the start fishing time will be approximately fifteen minutes after when we think the last angler should have headed out on the ice.

Team/entrant numbers will be based on the date/time that an entrant enters online or the postmark on mail in registrations.

Our goal is to have a start time as early as possible, so cooperation during the equipment check is critical. Anglers late to the check in line, or unprepared for an equipment inspection will forfeit their starting point.

ATV / Snowmobile Use.

ATV use on lakes is not permitted by state law, which means that the PA tournaments will be walk out events.

ATV use is legal in NY and VT and will be allowed during the tournament, depending on ice conditions and local ordinances.

Change in Dates

Well, the fishermen spoke and we listened

The dates of the tournaments have been changed to Sundays, with the exception of Silver Lake NY which will remain a Saturday event so as not to interfere with Superbowl Sunday.
At this time Bomoseen Lake VT will also remain on Saturday, though that might change in the next week or so.

We'll get this updated on the site soon.

I think it was a bit over 30 years ago that I rigged up my first ice fishing sonar. A Humminbird Super Sixty mounted on a plywood box that held a car battery. You can imagine my joy when Humminbird reintroduced an ice fishing flasher, a top line product from a company I've trusted as long as I've been fishing. Our New Logo

Well, I'm very happy, and proud to say that IceFishingPa has a new logo, which can be viewed on our home page http://www.icefishingpa.com You'll also start to see this logo on other pages of the web site, in print advertising and on promotional items such as bumper stickers, hats and such.

Our new logo was designed by Mike Kuna, registered on here as Mike K. I will let Mike fill in some details, if he cares, but he is well know among competitive ice fishermen.
I think Mike has qualified for the Ice Team and NAIFC Championships four or five times, has been featured in several national fishing magazines and runs the Keystone Crappie Association http://keystonecrappie.com

I think it's safe to say you might see him at one of the IFPA events, very approachable guy so say hello.

Volunteers will be needed

Maybe you live close to a tournament site and are curious, but not ready to enter one just yet.
Or maybe you are entered in an event, but are the kind of person who always shows up early and stays late, or a combination of the two.

Regardless, I will be very grateful for anyone who cares to donate some time to make sure things run smoothly.

We will be in need of:

Help at the registration / rules meetings on Friday evening.
Help at check in on tournament morning
Official observers on tournament day - non competitors only.
Help at weigh in.

We have several months to get all this worked out, but if you think you can be of assistance, shoot me a PM or email.
