Silver Lake - Wyoming County NY - 02/06/10

I know that there were questions about this event, but it's safe to say that this tournament will happen as planed.
This tournament will be a SATURDAY event so as not to interfere with plans that people might have for Superbowl Sunday.

There are several ingredients that go into making Silver a great tournament location.

Of course the first is a very healthy panfish population, with bluegills within an easy walk of the state launch and big perch just a bit further out.
A very fishermen friendly community, along with great scenery and snowmobiling also helps.

For those of you that will be spending several days in the Silver Lake area, I can recommend at a drive thru of Letchworth State Park or some pike or walleye fishing on Silver Lake. Pike are fairly easy to find in the weeds at the southern end of the lake and while the walleyes are tricky, they are there in very good numbers and size.

For general information on all that this area has to offer, visit http://www.wyomingcountyny.com

Another aspect is that there is plenty of information about the fishing on-line, as an example

And, of course.....http://www.silverlakeview.com/

Do a search, plenty of info out there.

Is that launch on the south west end of the lake where the state launch is?

I can verify what Byron is saying.  There are some nice fish in that lake and in good numbers.  The first time we fished there for a tournament I couldn't believe it.  I was in about 5' of water in the weeds.  Crystal clear water.  I somehow landed on a travel path through the weeds.  It was like a fish highway, gills, perch, bass, walleye, pike.  What really amazed me were the walleyes.  They really looked like footballs with fins.

Anyway I've fished it several times since then and haven't found a spot like that or seen the fish traveling like that again.  Guess I hit it lucky that day.  I'm really looking forward to fishing silver again.

Mike
Now that was a lucky day. I am looking forward to it. Hopefully I will be on the highway this time.
